Title of Entry: The Devil Still Dances

About this Entry: The “Devil Still Dances” feature story is about a memorable folktale that is said to have taken place in the Rio Grande Valley region. The tale is called “The Devil at the Dance.” The spooky tale is about the devil danced with a girl at a nightclub more than 40 years ago in McAllen, Texas. The community still remembers the tale and still shares it to this day. UTRGV professors shared their take on the folktale and why they think it still thrives in the RGV. They also talk about why folktales exist, and their opinion why the tales don’t “go away.”
